History teaches us that the League of Nations failed and was replaced by the United Nations. Now the UN has failed beyond repair. It must be succeeded by a better world body devoted solely to democracy--the Covenant of Democratic Nations.
The United Nations is a proven failure and must be replaced. An international body with the goal of promulgating global stability and protecting and promoting inalienable human rights and freedom in the world requires an entirely new institution. Founded by genuine democracies, limited to democracies, and devoted to democracy as the foundation for world peace, the Covenant of Democratic Nations would be able to succeed where the U.N. has failed.
Replacing the United Nations with a new world body, such as the Covenant of Democratic Nations, is a long overdue idea and indeed something we must speedily explore. The UN has clearly outlived its usefuless and by its action and inaction is now making the world a less safe place to be.
It is time to write the obituary of the United Nations. It deserves no "kaddish" because it committed suicide at the age of 71 with the passage of Security Council Resolution 2334 on December 23, 2016.
The time has come to acknowledge that the UN has failed to accomplish its primary purpose of promoting respect human rights and fundamental freedoms. The need to pursue these rights and freedoms remains undiminished, but we need new ideas, new approaches, and new structures to accomplish what others have failed to do.
The UN of today has shown its callous disregard for the very lofty principles upon which it was established. It is now dominated by a rogue nations who have no understanding of democracy, human rights and the rule of law. A Covenant of Democratic Nations might possibly begin to undo the damage.
The UN was meant to be a league of democratic countries, helping to shape a free world after the wreckage of WWII. It has been taken over by tyrants, demagogues and representative of the worst of the 10th Century. Its time for the free countries to do something better - a covenant of democratic nations.
The United Nations, like the predecessor League of Nations, was propelled by a utopian dream. Both were launched by well wishers after devastating world wars. Both were sidetracked by narrow political considerations of member countries. Like the League of Nations, the U.N. has not been able to prevent wars, massacres, genocide and evil. It has become an inefficient, costly and politically corrupt organization. It has certainly outlived its purpose.
The United Nations has done more the fail in its mission to promote world peace. It has actually become a weaponized international forum masquerading behind international law-- with its guns set on Israel. We need the Covenant of Democratic Countries, as successor, to preserve the good, but then to clarify, amend, strike down, and undo the anti-Israel actions the UN and its constituent bodies have wrought.
Replacing the UN with a new organization, such as the Covenant of Democratic Nations, is an urgent must. The UN has now proved it is beyond redemption. Only a new world body with the power to reform and amend what has been done can undo the damage.
The League of Nations failed to protect the world from war and genocide against Jews and other minorities. It was replaced by the UN. But the UN and its affiliates not protected the world from atrocities, but rather encouraged injustice, ethnic cleansing, genocide, and war Let all democratic nations of good will and proper moral compass unite and replace the UN with a new entity: The Covenant of Democratic Nations to do the job.
This much is quite clear. Australia's values and way of life are also at risk from insidious institutions such as the unelected swill that is the United Nations. Action needs to be taken.
I wish the the Covenant of Nations had been formed when I was a State Department diplomat. But now is the time if there ever was a time. The UN has evolved into an instrument for racism and antisemitism even as it stands inert in the face of genocides across the globe.
The time has come and gone for the UN, as it has been taken over by the left, dictatorships, and terror supporting countries. It cannot be fixed and must be closed for the sake of world peace. Now is the time.
